One day at a fundraiser a teacher told the 4 and 5 year old students , “girls on the pink towels and boys on the blue towels.” One girl, we’ll call her Selina said to me, “but I don’t like pink, I like blue!” I responded, “Selina of course you can sit on a blue towel” 🙂

It excited me that this young girl realized that gender should have nothing to do with colors. Why should a girl only be associated with pink and boys with blue? Children look up to adults , they trust what we say. Teaching our children to like all colors is important. A simple color shouldn’t define your sex, it should define your taste.
