This Summer, I recently finished Blood, Sex, Magic by Bri Luna…and I absolutely loved it! The night I got it, I was up late reading!

Luna doesn’t just introduce ideas around ancestry, intuition, healing, power, and magic; she gives you practices that invite you to explore them for yourself.
Luna’s first book is divided into three and each section is informative, reflective, and, most importantly, actionable. Luna gives us stories, history, spells, rituals, journal exercises, and opportunities to actually put what we’re learning into practice.
Whether you’re a beginner exploring witchcraft or a well-practiced witch, there is something here for you.
And can we talk about the imagery?! This is a BEAUTIFUL book. Every page is truly a gem.
Healing, Roots & Trusting Yourself

What really stayed with me was how much this book connected to my own healing journey.
There is such a strong affirmation of knowing your roots, trusting your gut, listening to your intuition, and recognizing the power we have to create our own reality.
There was also something powerful about Luna’s imagery around demons and love. Sometimes the “demon” isn’t some distant, scary thing. Sometimes they can be right beside you, requiring you to suffer in the name of amor.
🙄
Part of healing is learning that love should not require us to abandon ourselves or silence what our intuition has been trying to tell us.
♥️
The book also reminds us to honor our cycles and phases. Give yourself time. The witch represents who we wish to be, our authentic self.
Be real. Honor the real you!
“Ritual Is the Backbone of Magic” 🔮 Bri Luna
One of my favorite parts of her writing is that Luna doesn’t just tell you about magic, she invites you to practice.
As Luna puts it, rituals are the backbone of magic, and this book is full of journal exercises, rituals, reflection, and even some spell work for those who want to dabble.
I especially loved the creativity throughout. Kudos to the nail altar because?! 💅🏽✨ And color magic? Oh, I feel the energy for sure.
These practices made the book feel accessible. Magic doesn’t have to look one particular way. Ritual can be personal, creative, intentional, and completely your own.
And Then There’s the Sea 🌊
I’m a HUGE water person, so Luna’s reflections on the sea really touched me.
There is something about the way she embraces its power without being afraid of it. Meanwhile, I’m completely enamored with the ocean’s power while also being a little scared of her 😂
But the sound of the tide? It truly and always calms me down.
That section reminded me that there can be power in the things that both humble and call to us. We don’t necessarily have to conquer that power. Sometimes we can simply honor it and give it our offerings.
A Book I’ll Keep Coming Back To
This isn’t a book I’m putting on the shelf and forgetting about.
It’s one I’ll return to when I need a ritual, a journal prompt, inspiration, or simply a reminder to trust myself.
Every page is a gem.
I could tell you about every spell, reflection, and moment that stayed with me, but then what would be left for you? 😍📚 You’ll have to head to your local library or grab yourself a copy to experience the rest.
If there is one thing I’m carrying with me from her first book, it’s this:
Know your roots. Trust your intuition. Honor your cycles. Reclaim your power. Trust your magic.
Because healing is magic, too. ✨
